Something borrowed, and a sixpence in your shoe

I never knew the meaning of the marriage saying something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence in your shoe. So I looked it up:

Something new

This represents the new chapter in the bride’s life and the future she will spend with her spouse. It is used as a token of hope for the happy couple’s long future together. Something new can be an exchange of rings between the husband and bride, or it can be the bride’s dress itself.

Something borrowed

This item usually comes from a family member or a friend of the bride who is happily married. The reason for this is that the sense of happiness will transfer over to the bride and stay with the happy couple for years to come, and that the bride can always seek support from her family and friends. Common items include jewelry, a garter, or even the dress.

Something blue

Blue is the color of love, purity, faithfulness, and modesty. To keep with tradition, the bride can wear a blue piece of jewelry. But for a modern take, you can write a little note or other small message in blue on the bottom of her shoes.

And a sixpence in her shoe

Lastly, a sixpence was a coin in Victorian England. Nowadays, it symbolizes lasting wealth for the couple, which, if we’re being honest, everyone can use. Sixpence coins can often be found in wedding shops.

I did some more research and found that the tradition comes from royalty. None of this would have any relevance, and it wasn't until two weeks ago when I randomly decided to name that weeks blog “what’s new and what’s blue." I’ve missed y’all. I feel like it’s been a little while. I have been in SUCH a busy season, and I feel like today God has slowed things down for me a little bit, which is nice. The pace at which I was going definitely wasn’t sustainable, but I know enough to know now that most things in life come and go. So I just like to hold on tight and enjoy the ride. You know what I do not like? What I do not like is the fact that people will try to put you in a box. I’m not sure what kind of box it is because they don’t exist in my head but don’t attempt to put me in one. I will not fit. That being said, I was going to address this on my Instagram story today because, as I was brushing my teeth this morning, God gave me the graceful words to express, but I made it here first, so I’m just going to break it down right now. That way, you can print it off and refer back to it when necessary. As I have been running ads on skintini and I have reached a new audience, I have received a few distasteful messages, one of them being that I am ‘full of it.’

This was probably the fourth or fifth person I’ve had contact me in this type of manner, and it hasn’t really bothered me much, nor did I ever have any intention of giving it the light of day until the Lord turned it into a WORD. So here we are. If you are new here, then let me be the first to tell you that I am not a salesperson. I will never, nor have I ever tried to sell anyone on anything. I am so organic and authentically myself. And THAT self is just so thoughtful and intentional in the way I can impact other people's lives that I share anything and almost everything I have found that has improved the quality of my life and performance. If you are one of my people, you know this about me. I share all of my knowledge and insight. When I finish my books, I give them to my friends. I’m constantly sending out podcast episodes, daily devotionals, motivational speeches—you name it.

I have spent YEARS perfecting my crafts and gaining experience using my talents, and I have now just found a way to monetize those. That is literally the equation for finding your purpose. I am going to share my pastor's father’s sermon he preached a couple Sundays ago on just exactly how you get involved with God in building those new thinking constructs. It was such a good sermon, and he really explains how to get yourself involved in the equation of allowing God to renew your mind. 

MEAL PREPS 

Recently, I shared a new meal prep company that me and Harley have tried, and I am not exaggerating, but they have the best prepared food meal that I have ever had. The spicy harissa and bison bowl is to die for. It’s such a fast and easy process; I just pop them in the oven for the suggested time, and I know that me and my daughter are fed good-quality food and all of their meals are delivered to your doorstep.

I recently had a meeting with the owners, Nick and Joe, and their amazing people. They place a great importance on their responsibly sourced, non-GMO, and high-quality ingredients; you’ll seriously feel great after each bite. Their fresh, seasonal vegetables are picked up daily. They want to give you the best so that you can be your best, and their market is just those who make it a priority to feed their family nutritious meals.

I know that I will get mom guilt during those busy seasons when you’re maybe not able to be at home pureéing organic vegetables or making all American breakfasts because that is really where my heart is, in my home and in my kitchen. So it makes me feel good that Harley is getting the nutrition and love from a warm meal that she needs when Prep Kitchen is in our fridge.

 FARMERS MARKET

JAKES RANCH? I believe that is the name of the farmer that I met and bought our produce from. I will post their menu online, but you guys, they don’t have any social media, so if you want to shop or learn more, you’ll have to go in person. It was my first time going this Saturday, and we really enjoyed it. We got some grass-fed beef steaks, some fresh strawberries, garden tomatoes, and an organic Caesar salad. I had some momosas; Harley had some fun in the sun and played on the water table they had set up for the kids. There was live music, fresh flowers, and a lot of good company. I got some networking done in the community, and maybe we will be appearing as a vendor here soon. Gods will. 

AMAZON STORE FRONT

So there has been a lot of difficulty getting me set up on an Amazon storefront. Some people are saying that they are really strict on the requirements now, but then my friend applied the other day and got it.
